PSSS brings you an exclusive update regarding another new RoPax vessel to be acquired by 2GO Travel. We have received unconfirmed reports that a conduction crew representing the said company has been deployed to Japan to bring the M/V Tsukushi of Hankyu Ferry to the Philippines. The Tsukushi, which is the sister ship of M/V 2GO Maligaya (formerly M/V Stena Nova), is reported to be the second RoPax liner acquired by 2GO Group Inc. to operate under its 2GO Travel ferry brand.

As of press time there has been no official confirmation from 2GO yet, but it is interesting to note that the Tsukushi has been laid up in Japan since the end of March. Just recently she underwent an unannounced sea trial, which even surprised local Japanese shipspotters -- further fuelling speculation that the sea trial was part of preparations for her conduction voyage to the Philippines.

Like her sister ship, the Tsukushi has a length overall of 195 meters, a beam of 26 meters, and a listed gross tonnage of 13,353 tons. Although she was built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries like M/V 2GO Maligaya -- the Tsukushi was built in the company’s other yard located in Kobe, Japan. Should her acquisition be confirmed, she will join M/V 2GO Maligaya as one of the largest RORO Passenger ferries ever to sail in the Philippines.
