[R4 - 14EFAS] Dong Yang Scenic Elevator - Pondok Indah Mall 1, Jakarta, ID

IT'S STILL HERE! The "childhood elevator" that started my interests in elevators is still standing strong for 31 years since 1991! Of course, since I have a new phone with me I had to film this yet again. So here it is, a better and stable 2022 retake of PIM 1's iconic scenic elevator! Oh, and this was published to commemorate my 14th anniversary of elevator filming (10 January), hence the "14EFAS" tag on the title!

Little has changed since my last take in 2018 apart from the addition of boring generic sensors (uhh...) outside. A number of changes have actually been done since many years ago, such as replaced flooring and improved door safety features; I believe this used to have metallic bumpers before they were replaced with Weco door sensors. It used to have a chime but that's sadly gone since 2011. Other than that the elevator is still original. Maintenance seems to be still carried out by TKE along with service elevator number 2 just across from here, even though nearly all the elevators in the entire mall complex are from Schindler and two of the service elevators here have been replaced into Schindler about ten years ago. Let's hope that this elevator will last for another 10 years or more since this is quite memorable for me!

Why is it memorable for me? Because this is the elevator I rode for the first time in my life. My grandmother would take me for a ride in here and at first I was afraid of it, but there was something (not sure what it was) that made me interested with it. Until now, I still likes elevators and almost all kinds of vertical transports, which is why this particular elevator is quite memorable for me as this was the source of my interest with elevators in the first place.

This elevator is also considered unique in Indonesia due to its shape and hydraulic. You don't see hydraulic elevators inside public places so often nowadays in Indonesia. Dong Yang hydraulics are also extremely rare, and so far PIM 1 is the only known place in Indonesia having such installations.
